Well my Duke had 6000 mile service back in September. I'm now at 6600 miles & already topped up Motorex Cross Power 4T 10W60 by 150 ml. I used around 1.5 litres between 600 & 6000 mile service, so doing the maths, my oil consumption is STILL approaching 300 ml per 1000 miles. As is true with any motor, and especially this one, being a big piston with high compression, the majority of the wear happens before the engine reaches operating temp, so the thinner the oil at startup the better. (Mineral = dinosaur juice) Dot 3,4,5.1 brake fluid is corrosive and can damage paint, but is less prone to absorb moisture. A couple of months after I have had a weird issue where sometimes when I pull in on the clutch/idle my bike stays at 3k RPMs then slowly goes down to 1650. After reading around a bit I am going to check and see if it has to do with my fuel tank
The first oil changed carried out at 600 ish miles. Both filters changed and the oil but i only cleaned and re used the oil screens.
116 posts · Joined 2017. #1 · Jul 13, 2017. My RC 390 and my 690 Duke both say the same thing in the owner's manual: Run the engine to normal temperature (or just ride it!), then turn off and wait 1 minute with the bike bolt upright to check the oil level in the glass. It works for me.

IMHO the choice of 5th and 6th ratios on the 690 are too close. The difference between gears should not be smaller than 1.2, preferably 1.25. A good drop from 5th to 6th would allow cruising/economy/moderate RPM at highway speed, then dropping back to 5th for overtaking/top speed.

This must be a year issue, so let's be a little bit more detail oriented in answering (and asking I guess) questions. The cover of my 2018 690 Duke says to use DOT 4 or 5.1 only; Pg 109 of the manual, "Checking/correcting the fluid level of the hydraulic clutch" reads, in part: Warning skin irritation Brake fluid causes skin irritation; blah blah brake fluid; more blah, brake fluid; etc etc
This is not a big problem, had same symptoms. 2 reasons of why this could happen. 1) The disks are a bit warped from overheating - Solution: Ride it as ussual, just dont use the whole throttle, maybe for 1 or 2 tanks, it will go back to normal. 2) He didnt use the correct oil - change the oil.
